Meal Prepping: Where Do I Start?

I'm not going to lie...when I first decided I wanted to start eating healthy I had no idea where to start or how to begin. I'd heard the phrase "Clean Eating" being thrown around a lot, but I had no idea what it really meant. I did what I thought was clean and healthy eating for a while, before I fell off the wagon and got back into bad habits.

It wasn't until I decided to try the 21 Day Fix program that I really understood what clean eating was and how to balance and control the foods I was eating. Eating clean is simply the practice of avoiding processed and refined foods and basing your diet on whole foods. But there's much more to this plan. You can structure your diet to get proper nutrition, help manage diseases, avoid developing diseases in the first place, lose weight, remove toxins, and just feel better all around.

The 21 Day Fix program comes with a set of containers designed to teach you to portion your foods while ensuring your getting the proper amount of each food group, without really restricting the foods that you love. In the 21 Day Fix plan, you learn to eat the proper amount of foods per day which makes planning your meals for the week fool proof. You'll know you are getting the right amount of nutrition if you use the containers. Each container is a specific color and size, based on the serving amount you need for that food group. The amount of each container you will eat each day is determined by your weight and the caloric deficit you need to see results.

Below you will find a sample meal plan I created for a week following the 21 Day Fix container guide. You will see that I have mapped out specific colors for each meal. I am clearly eating quite a bit and quite often each day, so this plan is not designed to have you focus on what you CAN'T eat, like many others are. It's purpose is to teach you what you CAN enjoy through moderation and balance so that you can continue it forever. If you have any questions on meal prepping, the 21 Day Fix, or how incorporate clean eating into you diet, please don't hesitate to let me know!
